“Song for S.B.” was born as a test piece of the International Competition of Morro D’Oro 2003 in the Jazz section. The idea was to use an advanced harmonic writing (through the use of combinations of chords in the left hand) while remaining within the Italian melodic style. The song is appropriate for jazz group, for virtuoso (solo accordion version) and for the academic world (version for string quartet).
Renzo Ruggieri has performed all over the world to great acclaim. He specialized in jazz piano under Franco D’Andrea and since, has recorded numerous CD’s as both leader and session player. Much of his music been published and he has written teaching methods for important publishing houses. He is the leading exponent of Italian Jazz in formations that range from a DUO to the RENZO RUGGIERI ORCHESTRA.
