    • Welcome Anthony, Please tell us a little about your accordion journey to here? Where you are at in learning and anything else accordion you wish. You can find more about me on my profile page. Dale

      • Hello, I took accordion lessons about 20 years ago from a very popular teacher in our area. I took lessons for at least five years and really wasn’t doing that well so I gave it up. Then I found accordionlife last year and thought I would give it try, I tried it up until last winter and then thought I should take a break as I wasn’t really happy with my progress and I knew I wouldn’t have much time in the summer to practice.
So I joined up again and going to give it another go. Was wondering if many people have had success with the Deschamp Method, I would really like to become a good accordion player, maybe this would help. Don’t know what else to do.
        Thanks. T. N.

        • Hi Anthony, thanks so much for telling us about your accordion journey and efforts to learn accordion. I just started my third year with Accordion Life and weekly private lessons. When I started I thought, I needed just a few months to get me over the “learning hump” and I will be on my way! Then it was one-year…. Now I realize I will be learning for quite some time to come!
I am really enjoying my accordion journey to eventually play duets with my wife. I realize that accordion is a complex instrument and it will take dedication and consistence practice to unlock my full potential. The folks at Accordion Life are essential in making that happen. I am learning at my peak senior, left-brain linear ability. They are teaching me “how” I learn plus working on my artistic ability, which is saying a lot! They help me through my weak spots and build on my strengths. I give them an A+ in teaching. The Des Champs method is good in learning how to learn passages but not a stand-alone program like Accordion Life.
My suggestion would be to talk with either Patricia, Yev or Corrie and let them see where you are at. (I have also “tagged” this conversation for them). Then either through in-person or Skype lessons, let them help you through the learning process. I would be lost without them to keep me progressing and learning plus making it fun in the process.
Another great way to see your progress is to take videos now and about every six months. If you go to the student video section you can see me and others progressions.
I hope this helps and let’s keep talking accordion!! Dale
